Event Description:
WHAT IS THE SBIR PROGRAM The Federal SBIR/STTR programs award over $2.5 billion in high-risk R&D funding annually to qualified small businesses. The process is complex with a steep learning curve, but the impact of receiving millions in non-dilutive funding is worth the effort. WHAT YOU’LL COME AWAY WITH ? Texas-Federal Innovation and Technology Transfer Program Essentials The welcome will begin with a brief overview of the program, its outreach activities and the technical assistance that it could offer Texas businesses seeking to apply to the SBIR/STTR program. ? Introduction and Overview of the Dept. of Education (DoEd) and U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) SBIR Programs Start the morning by learning about SBIR/STTR eligibility, how the programs differ, how to select the right agency for your technology and tips on the elements of a competitive proposal. Then get an introduction to the USDA and DoEd SBIR programs. Information covered will include general program features, topic areas, proposal requirements and tips for success. ? SBIR/STTR Proposal Essentials for the Dept. of Defense The afternoon session will cover DoD SBIR/STTR program specifics and provide an understanding of the differences between DoD components, how to identify a topic, the importance of talking to Technical Points of Contact during the pre-release period and writing to meet the reviewers? expectations. WHO SHOULD ATTEND ? Anyone planning on submitting an SBIR/STTR proposal in the next 12 months. ? Individuals interested in learning enough about the programs to determine if they are interested in pursuing future submissions. ? Individuals supporting SBIR/STTR applicants and companies including financial managers, business managers, other administrative personnel. ? Individuals from academic institutions interested in pursuing SBIR/STTR funding for their technologies and/or working with applicants as subcontractors and supporting personnel. Technology Commercialization Center Becky Aistrup, SBIR/STTR expert, of the SBIR/STTR consulting firm BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting Continental breakfast and lunch are included. Registration is $40 per person, and each person may register one guest for $10.
