Globally, buildings contribute 40% of carbon emissions through heating, cooling, lighting, and other operations. The American Institute of Architects 2030 Commitment established a challenge to cut carbon emissions in the design and construction industry by 2030. As one of more than 1300 firms worldwide, Parkhill is a proud signatory of the AIA 2030 Commitment. Projects such as Buddy Holly Hall holding LEED Certification are a fitting example of this commitment to design. This is one of the most significant initiatives in the history of the industry. As we celebrate Earth Day, we are reminded of this commitment to transforming our approach to design and building projects and protecting the future of our world together. https://ow.ly/9v7w50RlxAa #EarthDay #AIA2030Commitment #SustainableArchitecture The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Umesh Atre Dan Hart, FAIA, PE Jared Higgins, PE, CEM Steven Holmes Chris Mundell AIA, LEED Fellow Brandon Young

How do you choose a career path? We explored that question with two high school students involved in a semester-long program sponsored by Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas at Parkhill's Abilene Office: https://ow.ly/aCZf50RiwXV The goal of the program was to provide hands-on experiences to help the students more clearly define their professional aspirations related to the fields of architecture and engineering. #BuildingCommunity #ArchitectureWeek #BecomeAnArchitect The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Jesse Bernard

With the commencement of Architecture Week, Parkhill welcomed first-year graduate school students from the Texas Tech Huckabee College of Architecture to tour the Lubbock Office! As part of the "Pro Practice Class," Parkhill Architects Ashlee Horsley, AIA, and Kyle Flusche, AIA, organized an office tour to immerse the students in our office culture and showcased the planning and design process for the Lubbock-Cooper Liberty High School auditorium project. This opportunity allowed the students to think creatively about their potential role in the future of the architecture industry. It's never too early to start thinking like an architect! Architecture Week celebrates the power of design nationwide. As Parkhill's Vice President of Architecture Dan Hart, AIA, PE., says, "Design is our superpower." This year's theme focuses on K-12 education. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math programs in schools, workshops, camps, design competitions, internships, and scholarships are all opportunities that encourage architecture within the minds of aspiring architects and shape the future of architecture. We're excited to share just how we're celebrating Architecture Week 2024! #BuildingCommunity #ArchitectureWeek The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Dan Hart, FAIA, PE

On Monday I had the pleasure of playing the AIA Dallas golf tournament with my friends from Parkhill . We were on the fairway of hole #1 when the eclipse reached totality. I heard a lot of people talking about how dark it got but I was standing next to Salvador Sanchez, AIA who is a rising star so it stayed bright by me!

Did you know the U.S. is the only country in the world to grade and classify every fiber of cotton produced to ensure a level playing field for our producers in the marketplace? Did you also know that the Parkhill | Fanning design team has provided A/E design services for all 9 classing labs in the U.S.? The newest laboratory, located in Lubbock, TX, is the most advanced in the world! The facility is sited on the Texas Tech University campus to promote continued research and learning opportunities. The exterior facade is designed to be a contemporary interpretation of Spanish Renaissance architecture. Inside, the common spaces promote education and showcase the history of cotton production in West Texas. The laboratory features automated sample movement and high-volume classing equipment to provide reliable and timely results for producers. Thankful for the opportunity to partner with the USDA AMS Cotton Progam to provide a world-class facility for the hard-working cotton growers of this region.
