As an update: I should have mentioned I did receive a refund, which is the minimum expectation for poor care at the facility. And i did receive an email with photos but they were poor quality and unclear so I couldn't see his eye issue even though the staff could and did nothing to contact the owners. Despite pleasantries on Yelp in response to my original review, the careless tone over the phone was very clear during the time we had issues and no friendly post will make up for that. Untrustworthy!

We take our responsibility seriously and monitor your pet carefully throughout its stay. To keep owners in the loop, we send a detailed daily update including pictures from that day.
"Cherry eye" is a genetic condition (not traumatic) commonly affecting short-nosed dogs like Russett (bulldogs, Frenchies, Shih Tzus, etc.). It is caused by a tear gland that enlarges and pokes out from under the eyelid. During the early stages of this process, the gland is not always visible and it can come and go.
While I can't offer you free veterinary care, in a show of good faith, I refunded your visit to offset the cost of the medical consultation and medication. Every effort was made to help you connect with the veterinary clinic; however, you declined.
If you or anyone else has any questions regarding how we care for pets or any of our policies we are happy to address these concerns.

The passive attitude and neglect of the staff at Sidekicks is EXTRAORDINARY. When we picked up our dog Russet, his cherry eye was out and inflamed. The problem with that is HE DID NOT have cherry eye when we dropped him off and NO ONE at that facility thought to contact us when they noticed it happen!
We dropped off Russet at 11:30a, Katie the administrator claimed she noticed the cherry eye at 1p in the playroom, and we picked up Russet at 5:45p. He's had his cherry eye out for 5 hours and no one thought to call and report it to us!? Not even a phone call!?
"Cherry eye is very common, we just assumed he had that. I'm very sorry." Sorry doesn't help Russet whatsoever, and I feel bad for the other animals in their care that may have medical issues that the staff is neglecting and not telling their owners!
Them being attached to the vet means NOTHING. Katie the administrator stated they are two completely separate entities and they would not care of Russet's issue which they've obviously made impossible to treat without surgery. - Ginny G.Amarillo, TX0115245Apr 8, 2023
Might try this again if needed however prices are on the high side when comparing amenities. A young man with no people skills was not helpful. We prefer suites where pets can get outside and some media-radio/tv calming activities. Staff really need to love this work.

Hi Ginny, we're sorry to see you've had a less than five-star experience. We've reached out to learn more about your experience on yelp as we can not find your name as listed in our system.
Unfortunately, it is illegal (unless grandfathered in) to have indoor/outdoor runs within the city limits, so if that is your preference, this location will never be able to provide that without a change in city zoning. However, we do have multiple outdoor exercise times with dogs throughout the day. Music is going most of the day except for rest times, and we offer multiple enrichment activities and other options like tummy time. We're sorry you feel our staff member has 'no people skills'; however, client care and communication are at the forefront of our training. We'd like to know about your interaction to improve any miscommunications going forward and help correct any problems from your visit.
Taking care of people and their pets truly is the passion of our team, and we apologize if this wasn't made abundantly obvious. The people we hire undergo an extensive interview and training program and have experience caring for pets and their families.
We'd appreciate the opportunity to serve you again in the future and discuss any additional feedback.

So. Sidekicks is super awesome. They're attached to a vet which makes me feel great. I get daily reports with photos. If I could give a half star I'd go 4.5. But, no playroom video kinda makes me sad. But I'm a super obsessed dog dad. I love their hours and the extra services they have!!! They do grooming, overnights and even will walk your furry friend over to the vet and get a shot or other vet care (like checkups and routine stuff) while you're at work. Again. Would be 5 stars But I want video stream on demand sooooooo bad.

Katie HJun 9, 2023Previous reviewThis place charged a $22 fee for my daughter to reserve a time for her service dog to get a bath and paw trim (this is because she was a new customer, still I've never heard of this in all my dog owning life). The day of her appointment, she called to confirm the time and services and they told her that the full amount she had been quoted ($90+) was only for a bath. If she cancelled, she would have to pay 1/2. So we took the dog to this place and were told the paw trim would be at least another $15 and they might not have time to do it that day. Instead she was forced to pay another $22 to cancel. They said the person who told her the $90 was for a bath and paw trim did not know what they were talking about and, even though it was an employee who told her, they refused to honor the price. So they took $44 of my daughter's money and did NOTHING. It's a shame Yelp doesn't allow 0 stars or even negative stars.
