October 8, 2020 For Immediate Release Amarillo Chamber Announces Changes in Leadership The Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors today announced that Gary Molberg has resigned his position as President & CEO. To ensure a smooth transition, Mr. Molberg will remain with the Chamber as a Senior Consultant. Jason Harrison, a 13-year Vice President with the Chamber, will serve as Interim President & CEO. The Chamber’s Executive Board has formed a committee to search for a permanent replacement. Molberg has served as President & CEO of the Chamber since November 1997. Before his 22 year career at the Chamber, the Pampa High School and the University of Texas-El Paso graduate was a former Senior Vice President with Tascosa National Bank and then served as the Vice President of Marketing for Amarillo National Bank. Throughout his career, Gary has served as a volunteer or board member for many organizations including the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Board, Panhandle Regional Planning Commission, United Way, March of Dimes, Tri-State Fair Exposition Board, Amarillo Executive Association and more. It was Gary’s long-time volunteer work on the Chamber’s Round-Up Committee, membership drive, and other councils that helped launch his career at the Chamber of Commerce. In his role as president, Molberg was instrumental in growing the Chamber’s annual non-dues revenue events like the BusinessConnection® tradeshow and Good Times Celebration® Barbecue Cook-Off, as well as implementing other new events for the Chamber. The selection committee has begun its month-long search for a permanent replacement through various local, state, and national channels as well as industry-specific organizations including the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE) and the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE). “We are excited to explore candidates with a love and passion for the Chamber industry, the business community, and our city, and who have a proven track record of leadership and a vision for continued growth,” commented Dusty Doyle, Chairman of the Board.
